Mini-Vacation Weekend

This past weekend we took a mini-vacation.

Friday morning we took Abbey, Sophie & Zorro to the vet for a checkup and vaccines. They are all doing well. Afterwards we drove up to Watauga Lake, Tennessee with Mom, Dad, Jeremy & Ethan.

We had a nice time and many mixed drinks. There were a few bad moods floating around, but that is expected with our family. (Me & Dad mainly - though not with each other). We had planned a boat trip on Saturday but that just didn't work out, since we didn't make reservations and then it stormed for most of the day.

The rain stopped just before sunset which gave me some great photos!

Sunday Andrew & I left early and went to Roan Mountain State Park Rhododendron Gardens and did some hiking. The flowers were just starting to bloom and should be looking really nice in a couple weeks, we're planning to go back for a short hike along the Appalachian trail.

We've been trying to keep ourselves occupied lately with Par 3 golf, walking during lunch, or just generally trying to keep active. If our next IVF cycle fails we're going to need a much longer break to do some mind clearing & traveling. We'd like to go Macchu Picchu and hike the Inca Trail - assuming I'm not pregnant - as it is something we can't do if IVF works. We need to do some training first and hopefully get my knee in good working order.

Anyway, here are a couple pictures. More are in the Flickr account.

Great pictures of Watauga Lake... stay a while in beautiful Tennessee instead of jetting back to NC.
