Well, its been awhile since David & Rachel came home, all very blurry! They had a Dr appointment on 7th to check weights. David was 5lbs 9oz and Rachel was 5lbs 10oz. Dr. Golub said they were both doing well.
We are still working on a good routine and picking up on their personalities. David completely hates having his diaper changed and screams his head off. Once he gets a new diaper he is fine. When the boy is hungry, he is hungry and wants food NOW. He’s not the laid back babe from NICU anymore. Rachel is calmer and is just fine with diaper changes. She has issues with reflux that has caused a lot of clothes changes. We are still trying techniques to make her feel better.
They generally take 50ml each feeding now, which we’ll probably increase in the next day or so. We have gone on a couple walks outside but trying to shade from the sun & bugs has been difficult. It’s still good to get out of the house. The dogs have been fine with the babies so far, they are interested in these new toys we have.
We have a new dependence on coffee now, the few weeks are really one long blurry day with only a few naps. I am constantly washing/drying/folding clothes, cleaning bottles, mixing formula, trying to tidy the house, cuddling or feeding a baby, pumping, doing homework, or something. There is very little time to rest or relax. It has been overwhelming some days but I’m hoping that when they sleep better it will be easier. There is nothing better than having them sleeping on my chest.
They did get a visit from their Uncles, Jeremy & Wesley, but sleeping/eating babies aren’t that interactive yet. I’m very happy to finally have our little family at home and all together. Andrew is a great Daddy and I have great children. They really are beautiful and perfect.
