Ouch. (another long one)
Well, I seem to have managed ok - I'm still alive. Seeing as how we had to be there at 5:45 AM I was generally tired & relaxed for the most part. I wore my glasses and was a good girl. I didn't have to fight to have Andrew with me, he got to hang around until they took me away. It did however take them a couple tries to find a vein for the IV... not so much fun there.
The nurse anesthestist (sp?) was a very nice chap who gave me some very nice drugs! I got the first dose of sedative and was feeling just fine :) He came back in about 10 minutes later as it was wearing off and said he's fix that. That is the last thing I remember.
Then I woke myself up crying from the pain and not seeing Andrew around. The recovery room nurse was nice, although she didn't know many answers to the questions I was asking her. She said they took part of my ovary and I recall be upset about that...saying that I didn't want him to do that! Kinda late now huh ? She kept asking me about my pain, and giving me meds for that. I felt really sick so once they got that calmed they moved me to another room where Andrew turned up quickly after.
It was good that my mom was around too, that was nice. They kept giving me some great pain medicine, and gave me all they were allowed to for nausea. I didn't barf, but felt pretty close. I was pretty much in space land the entire day. My mouth was extremely dry, and my throat seems to have cuts on it from the tube making it hard to swallow or talk. I felt the need to pee a lot, but everytime I'd try it would seem to take at least 10 minutes for anything to happen... my guess is that any fluid in my bladder was pressing on the sore/missing ovary part making it painful until I went.
I have some very cool pictures the doc gave Andrew. Though he didn't mention the actual size it looks like I had a huge endometrial cyst on the left ovary. It was drained and cut off, which included part of the ovary being removed. The doc didn't do the nerve lasering procedure since he felt that removing the cyst would make a big difference in my pain level. I had been having bad lower left back pain for a couple months now but never really knew what from....guess I know now.
He suggested going on medication to put me in a menopausal state to help prevent the endo coming back, but thats not gonna happen! I'd rather have a kid thanks very much.
So, I've been sleeping lots and eating little. Having lots of help getting up and moving around....Andrew has been super sweet. My 3 incisions have been sewn up nicely, but are still sore as expected. My throat is scratchy, my jaw is sore...must have been from being open for the tube. I have bruises near my shoulders which I assume is where they picked me up to move me on tables, no idea. Also some shoulder pain from the gas they used to inflate my belly, it should all get better quickly in the next few days.
I have my follow up appointment on July 30th.
